Before the pandemic, getting the latest game-related announcements on E3 alone sufficed many gamers. But after their cancellation last year, other trade shows have started crawling out the surface. Although June is over, and E3, Steam Next Fest, and Windows Reveal have ended, there are still plenty of gaming events to be excited for in the coming months.
Here is the list of events we know of so far and their schedules:
July 6 – Nacon Connect
The French video game company Nacon will reveal its newest wares and upcoming titles virtually, both in a Twitch and YouTube stream called Nacon Connect. It’s set to broadcast on Tuesday, July 6 at 10am PT / 2pm EDT / 6pm BST / 10pm CEST. Nacon has also confirmed that games like The Masquerade – Swansong, The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, Blood Bowl 3, Test Drive Unlimited: Solar Crown, and Steelrising will be showcased in the stream
July 9 – WitcherCon
This virtual global event celebrates the beloved Witcher game series by CD Projekt Red. While we won’t be hearing a new installment, we can expect an exclusive behind-the-scenes content for The Witcher games and its very own Netflix live-action series. WitcherCon will broadcast on Twitch and YouTube, the first stream is scheduled at 10 am PT / 1 pm EDT / 6 pm BST, and the second one at 6 pm PT / 9 pm EDT / 2 am BST.
July 19 to 23 – Game Developers Conference
After their appearance in March, the second half of the Game Developers Conference returns as a weeklong event from July 19 to 23. GDC 2021 will also show up at the Independent Games Festival and Game Developers Choice Awards.
July 22 – EA Play Live
Two major video game companies dipped E3 this year, Sony and EA. The latter instead will be hosting their own virtual gaming showcase, EA Play Live, a month after E3 on July 22 at 10 am PST.
August 24 – Gamescom 2021 Opening Night Live
While E3 is over, we’ll still be seeing Geoff Keighley’s face on Opening Night Live as part of the video game industry’s yearly conference. There aren’t any specific details about what will show up at this event, but it’s safe to say to there’ll be a handful of big news and announcements to look forward to.
August 25 to August 29 – Gamescom 2021
The day after Opening Night Live, we’ll be having the actual Gamescon this year. There is currently no news on what to expect from this conference, but Gamescon will be free to view online for those who wish to attend.
September 30 to October 3 – Tokyo Game Show
Tokyo Game Show can promise you that they’ll always have games. The event has canceled their plans to go physical and instead will make its return virtually at the end of September.
October 13 – DC Fandome
DC FanDome 2020 was a blast, and they’re coming back this year. Fans of the universe were shown a trailer for Gotham Knights and Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League which are set to release on 2022. So it’s safe to assume that we’ll be hearing more game updates, and possibly a confirmation on the rumored Injustice 3.
